Reacting to dip in sales Vancouver real estate developers offer free wine and avocado toast for a year to woo buyers in the slowing market.
Last Month Woodbridge Homes offered “free avocado toast for a year” to buyers of its Kira condominium development at 740 Dogwood Street — near SkyTrain’s Burquitlam Station.
To counter this the local competitor Wesgroup Properties offers free glass of wine every day for a year or rather a $1,500 gift card to Everything Wine, for its new 26-storey MODE building — 3438 Sawmill Crescent — within its River District
“It’s clearly a cheeky response to the avocado toast incentive that got so heavily picked up (in the media),” — said Jones the vice-president of development with Wesgroup
At around $28 per week, it is enough to buy a pretty decent bottle or two to pour and ponder the future.
“The onus is on us to show we have the most attractive offering,” — he added.
The incentive generated a “massive amount of interest,” he said, adding traffic and website clicks picked up after it released the buzzy offer.
“Now is the time to be creative,” he said.
When fully complete, the 130-acre River District will entail over seven million sq. ft. of living space for up to 15,000 residents, as well as 250,000 sq. ft. of commercial space, 25 acres of green space, riverfront promenades, and new schools and community facilities.
